“The experience of overcoming fear is extraordinarily delightful” Bertrand Russell
Phobias and anxieties can be overcome with the help of hypnotherapy or counselling, as I have experience in both and with my many years’ experience in the dental field I can help you to overcome your fears and worries, which may be
- Bringing yourself to even book an appointment can be fill you with dread,
- It may be the fear of injections,
- The sound of the drill,
- Being in such close proximity with someone to your face,
- You may have broken/ damaged teeth and be in pain and your fear is holding you back from getting treatment,
- You may feel restricted by sitting still in a small room and you feel panicky,
- A past experience as a child, of being frightened, a painful past visit, an unsympathetic dentist and horror stories from others can all build as past experiences and really affect you hypnotherapy really can help you.
- A string gagging reflex, thoughts of things being put in our mouth can for some be impossible to tolerate.
All of these and any others can be overcome with the help of hypnosis.
Avoiding dental visits does not help and the problems won’t go away, minor dental problems being ignored lead to allowing decay to develop more and more and gum disease to flourish affecting your health, ignoring pain isn’t the answer as it won’t go away and the problem will only get worse. I can help you conquer your worries, please don’t wait until the problem is more serious and needs further intervention and more involved procedures, please contact me and we can deal with your fears so you can visit the dentist as soon as possible, in the long term.
Hypnosis has been proven be highly effective in helping with Bruxism (teeth grinding) and pain management.
Oral health is so important and can affect our general health and wellbeing. Having regular dental visits and hygiene appointments help you to have a good general health if you or anyone you know are apprehensive and unsure about visiting the dentist, in some cases people are petrified and avoid at all costs. With hypnotherapy and its powerful desensitisation techniques you conquer your fears and phobias. As a dental nurse who has worked within clinics, oral surgery and maxilla facial units and with my vast knowledge in the industry I know at first-hand what procedures, treatments and surgery involve. I have spent many years helping many patients overcome there fears and worries and have made their experiences more pleasurable. I can help you with specific relaxation and breathing techniques and give you tools with self-hypnosis, to build your control and confidence to enable you to visit your dentist, hygienist or hospital with ease and calmness you will even learn to smile as you great them.
I also offer help with stop smoking, cheek and nail biting which all have an effect on our teeth. Gums and oral health.
Over half of adults suffer some anxiety with visiting the dentist, with some avoiding completely. Anxiety UK, the UKs leading charity for people with anxiety disorders (whom I also work as a therapist for) advocates the use of clinical hypnotherapy to its clients. Research shows how over 75% of people can be helped with hypnosis.
Counselling can also help with overcoming your phobia, and has been proven more recently with research by the British dental association at kings college hospital, the research showed how an average of five cognitive behavioural therapy sessions helped most people to have treatment with the dentist without the need for sedation, with the study 795 went on to have treatment without the need for sedation. The study at the end of November 2015 can be looked at here http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-34933598
